I receive a lot of emails regarding what color to paint interior doors.  My overall usual suggestion is to always go black.

If the condition of the door is really good you can for sure try a semi-gloss paint.  if your doors are a standard builder issue, then a satin black would be just fine.

Benjamin Moore has some great blacks.  this is all predicated we are not talking a bout a mountain home or a beach house.  Black will be too formal and not give you design flexibility.

I am working on a tear down, or rather an interior gut, and the style is a cross of California style meets classical modern.  So not too glam more casual.  but black doors are going to be the ticket.

It is always a safe bet, if you are looking for elegant, a black door is the way to go.  You can leave the jamb white and the surround or casing white or in a color that works with your palette.

Have a great day!
