Lee Friedlander’s work I fell in love with this past summer, when I caught an exhibit of his in San Francisco.
I have always loved the
ability of photography to tell the story of history. Especially when it chronicles a certain theme or time period.
Lee Friedlander began photographing the American
social landscape in 1948. His photographs bring to the surface the juxtapositions of everyday
life that comprise our modern world. Beyond the vigorous outward eye he turns to the world around him, Friedlander is also recognized
for an investigation
of self he began in the 1960′s.
