I was in Philadelphia last week looking at a project, and adore their Museum of Art and decided to take a run in and see what was going on!
Well! I had the ultimate pleasure of catching a stunning retrospective of Roberto Capucci who is an Italian designer with the most recognizable fashions from the 1980′s and ’90′s.
This was his first exhibition in the States and it spanned his 60- year career! Conside Capucci a genius and what appeals to me most in relation to interior design, is that his silhouettes are so sculptural and yet so femmine. I came away from the exhibit with such a mad craving to design a Beaux Arts or Louis XVI house!
The idea of all of the satin and the draping was overwhelming and beyond gorgeous.
Capucci’s life is fascinating! Consider that as a young man of twenty, he opened his first couture salon in rome in 1950! He is 80 years old and to this day lives in Rome where he continues his work as a fashion designer and an artist. If those of you love fashion, you will immediately recognize the influence he has had on well known designers.
I was so excited to learn about this amazing man
and his incredible talent, and I hope that you enjoy his work as well!
Have a great day!
Love,
Jamie
